No. 5 Cal Hosts No. 1 Stanford for Rights to Pac-10 Title
April 21, 2003
Berkeley, Calif. - The fifth-ranked California women's tennis team (19-4, 6-1, Pac-10) finishes its regular season slate Tuesday, April 22 at 1:30 p.m. with a matchup against the nation's top-ranked team, cross-bay rival Stanford (19-1, 7-0, Pac-10). The match will take place at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley.
As if the match between two Top 5 teams was not enough, the Bears can claim a share of the conference title with a victory, as the two squads have split the two matches this season. Cal claimed a 4-3 decision in the second round of the Team Indoor Championships Feb. 7, and Stanford defeated the Bears, 6-1, in dual match play, Feb. 22 at Stanford, handing Cal its only Pac-10 loss of the season.
Both teams will have a quick turnaround, as they both travel to Ojai for the Pac-10 Championships scheduled for April 24-27.
