Women's Golf Second After First Day Of Pac-10 Championships

Corvallis, Ore. - Senior All-American Mikaela Parmlid shot a first-round 70 on Thursday to lead the No. 4 USC women's golf team into second after the first day of the 2003 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships held at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

USC shot 294 as a team, just two strokes behind team leader Cal at 292. UCLA is third (298), Arizona--the three-time defending champ--is fourth (299) and Washington is fifth (300).

Parmlid is tied with California's Sarah Huarte for the individual lead at 70. Fellow senior Becky Lucidi is tied for fifth after shooting 72.

Also for the Women of Troy, freshman Irene Cho is tied for 14th (75), junior Rachel Bell and freshman Tanya Dergal are tied for 24th (77) and junior Anna Rawson is tied for 34th (78).

The tournament resumes on Wednesday with an 8:30 a.m. tee off.
