Bieri and Kost Split a Pair at Pac-10 Championships

OJAI, Calif. - Thomas Bieri and Manuel Kost were able to win one doubles match in the championship draw at the Pac-10 Championships in Ojai, Calif. Unfortunately for the Ducks, it was the only win for the Oregon men's tennis team on the day.

Bieri and Kost defeated Cal's tandem of Conor Niland and Balazs Veress, 8-5, in the first round of the championship draw. In the second round, Arizona's pair of Whi Kim and Paul Warkentin defeated Bieri and Kost, 8-6.

Sven Swinnen and Oded Teig also played in the championship draw, but lost to Cal's Patrick Briaud and John Paul Fruttero, 8-1.

In the invitational doubles draw, Jason Menke and Arron Spencer took a bye in the first round. In the second round, UCLA's pair of Chris Lam and Chris Surapol won the match, 8-4.

Several Ducks will play in the backdraw portion of the tournament beginning Saturday. Swinnen and Bieri will begin play at 8 a.m., while Chris King and Spencer will play at 9:30 a.m.
