Cal's Results From Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - For the first time in 10 years, the University of California men's track and field team was represented at the 109th Penn Relays Friday afternoon. The Golden Bears competed in the 4x100 meter and distance medley relays at the elite meet, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Cal's 4x100 meter relay team of senior Nick Mazur, sophomore Toby Atawo, freshman Chris Boykin and sophomore Ricci Dula finished fourth in the sixth heat with a time of 41.43. The Bears' distance medley relay team of sophomores Carlos Carballo, Randy Fair, Girmay Guangul and freshman Kevin Davis finished in sixth place in the second heat with a time of 10:03.88.
The Penn Relays conclude tomorrow, Saturday, April 26. The remainder of Cal's track and field teams will compete at the Cal Invitational. The Golden Bears host the invitational meet Friday-Saturday, Apr. 25-26, at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley. The hammer throw is the only event slated for Friday, while Saturday's competition begins at 9:30 a.m. with the women's javelin throw.
