Tamrya d'Artenay Wins Hammer Throw at Cal Invitational

University of California track and field sophomore Tamrya d'Artenay won the hammer event in Friday's competition at the Cal Invitational. The Golden Bears host the meet Friday-Saturday, Apr. 25-26, in Berkeley.
Cal's d'Artenay won the hammer with a throw of 156-10. She leads the Bears in the hammer event this season with a mark of 159-1, thrown earlier this year at the Stanford Invitational. Laura Cadranel from Sacramento State placed second with a toss of 153-7, while teammate Kate Birkmaier finished in third place with a mark of 114-7.
On the men's side, East Bay Track and Field club member Tim McGallian won the event with a throw of 163-8. Sacramento State's Jeffery Fong placed second with a mark of 158-1, while teammate Joel Johnson finished third with a toss of 156-8.
The Cal Invitational continues tomorrow, Saturday, Apr. 26 at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley. The meet starts at 9:30 a.m. with the women's javelin throw. The women's 4x100 meter relay starts the running events at 12 p.m., while the final gun of the day is the men's 4x400m relay at 4:10 p.m. Check www.calbears.com for a complete recap and results.
