Bruins Capture Third Place At Pac-10 Championships

The 13th ranked UCLA women's golf team captured third place at the Pac-10 Championships Saturday at Trysting Tree Golf Club, hosted by Oregon State in Corvallis, OR.
The Bruins posted a 304 team score in the final round and finished with a 54-hole total of 902, 10 shots behind first place California, which won its first ever conference title in women's golf. Arizona placed second with a score of 897 and USC was fifth at 903. The Bruins' one shot margin over the Trojans gives them five critical points in the Lexus Gauntlet standings.
UCLA's Hana Kim tied for fifth place at 221 after closing with a final round one-over par 73. Junior Melissa Martin and sophomore Charlotte Mayorkas tied for 16th place at 228, 12-over par. Freshman Susie Mathews tied for 21st at 231 and junior Gina Umeck tied for 26th at 233. Junior Krystal Shearer, playing as an individual, tied for 19th place at 230.
Vikki Laing became the first Cal player to win the Pac-10 individual title, finishing first at even par 216. USC's Mikaela Parmlid finished second at 217, followed by Arizona's Erica Blasberg at 219.
