Men's Tennis Falls In Bid For Finals At Pac-10 Championships

OJAI - Calif. - Arizona State's duo of Olivier Charroin and Chris Stewart fell in their bid to reach the finals in the doubles portion of the Pac-10 Championships Saturday afternoon in Ojai, California. Charroin and Stewart were the lone pair of Sun Devils to reach the semifinals.
In the back draw of the singles bracket, Chris Letcher and Olivier Charroin picked up victories for the Sun Devils. Despite losing the first set, Letcher prevailed in the best match of the day 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) over Oregon's Thomas Bieri. In the other Devils victory, Charroin routed California's Kevin Patrick 6-0, 6-2. Chris Stewart battled tendonitis (knee) all tournament long, and could not overcome it today when he fell to UCLA's Erfan Djahangiri 6-3, 6-2. In the final match of the day for the Sun Devils, Ryan McBride battled back from one set down to claim the second set, but was downed in the third by Oregon's Aaron Spencer by a 2-6, 6-2, 2-6 count.
Arizona State will return to action in two weeks when they will play in the Pac-10 Championships as a team at a site yet to be determined.
