Nick Barnett Selected in the First Round of the NFL Draft by Green Bay

April 26, 2003

Corvallis, Ore. - Four-year letterman linebacker Nick Barnett was selected in Saturday's NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He is the first OSU player to be tabbed in the opening round since Heisman Trophy winner Terry Baker in 1963 by the Los Angeles Rams.

The All-Pac-10 Conference performer in 2002 shared the league's top spot for tackles with 121.

Barnett is joined on the Packers' list of draftees by former Beaver defensive lineman James Lee. The 6-foot-5 Lee was selected in the fifth round, and 147th overall.

Defensive back Dennis Weathersby will rejoin former OSU teammates Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh on the Cincinnati Bengals roster. Weathersby was the first pick in the fourth round.
