Husky Men's Golfers in Third Place at Pac-10 Championships

Glendale, CA - The 20th-ranked Washington men's golf team is in third place after the first two rounds of play at the Pac-10 Championships at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, Calif. The Huskies carded rounds of 365 and 372 to finish the first 36 holes at 17-over 737. UCLA leads the field at 6-over 726 while Stanford is second at 13-over 733.

The Bruins held a one-stroke lead over the Huskies and Cardinal after the first round thanks to an opening 18-hole score of 4-over 364. UCLA turned in the best round of the day, shooting 2-over 362 in the afternoon to improve its lead to seven strokes.

The Pac-10 tournament features six-man lineups with the five best scores counting toward the team total.

Washington junior All-American Brock Mackenzie is tied for third at 1-under 143 after shooting rounds of 71 and 72. Oregon State's Cameron MacKenzie leads the field at 4-under 140. MacKenzie shot 69 during the first round, the only player to break 70 during the day, and followed that up with a 1-under 71 during the second 18 holes. Stanford's Jim Seki, the defending Pac-10 medalist, is second at 141. Arizona State's Alejandro Canizares and Brady Stockton and UCLA's Roy Moon are tied with Mackenzie for third place.

Dan Potter and Conner Robbins both shot 3-over 147 for the Huskies to tie for 12th. John Robertson is 17th at 4-over 148. Derek Berg is 30th at 152 and Corey Prugh is 55th at 162.

The Pac-10 Championship continues with the second round Tuesday and the final 18 holes on Wednesday. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Regional Championships.
