Cal In Eighth After Three Rounds of Pac-10 Championships

GLENDALE, Calif. - The California men's golf team remained in eighth place Tuesday after the third of four rounds of the Pac-10 Championships at Oakmont Country Club. The Golden Bears carded a 379 today for a two-day score of 1141.
With three of its golfers in the Top 5, UCLA holds a commanding 23-shot lead over second-place Arizona (1104). The Bruins are at plus-one 1081 after shooting a minus-five 355 in the third round. The race is for second place as Stanford is in third at 1109, and Washington is fourth at 1114.
Junior Peter Tomasulo continued to be Cal's top golfer, holding down a tie for ninth at plus-three 219. Freshman Michael Wilson shot a 73 for the Bears' low round of the day, putting him in a tie for 15th at 221.
UCLA's John Merrick climbed from a tie for seventh to a tie for first after firing a 69 in the third round. He is tied with Stanford's Jim Seki at minus-three 213. Oregon State's Cameron MacKenzie, the first day leader, dropped to third (214) after posting a 74.
The final round tees off Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.
