Mendiola Named Honorable Mention All-America By WomensCollegeHoops.com

SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington junior guard Giuliana Mendiola (Lake Forest, Calif.) was named an honorable mention All-America selection by WomensCollegeHoops.com, the website announced Monday.
Mendiola was one of two Pac-10 players named to the site's third annual All-America award list. Stanford's Nicole Powell was selected to the second-team.
Mendiola, the 2003 Pac-10 Player of the Year and All-Pac-10 First-Team selection, led the Huskies to an overall record of 22-8 which included an undefeated 14-0 mark at home this past season. UW tied for second in the Pac-10 with a 13-5 conference record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last three years.
The team's leader in scoring (17.5), rebounding (6.5) and assists (5.4), Mendiola earned Kodak/WBCA All-America All-District honors. Her junior campaign also included eight double-doubles and a school-record 43 points against UCLA on Feb. 1.
She passed out a UW single-season record of 162 assists and tied the school record for assists in a game with 13 against Oregon State, on Jan. 25. Mendiola finished the year as the Pac-10's leader in assists (5.4) and three-point shooting percentage (.457). She also ranked among the league's top three players in scoring, field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage and assist-turnover ratio.
