Softball Game at California Rained Out

May 2, 2003

BERKELEY - The top-ranked University of Arizona Wildcats had their softball game at No. 9 California rained out Friday afternoon.

UA will move across San Francisco Bay and hopes to get in games Saturday night (7 p.m.) and Sunday afternoon (1 p.m.) against the No. 16 Stanford Cardinal in Palo Alto.

The Wildcats are 45-4 overall and 14-1 for first place in the Pacific-10 Conference. Arizona has the games at Stanford and home dates against UCLA next Friday and a doubleheader against Washington on Saturday to end the regular season.

Officials had not determined on Friday if the rainout at Stanford would be re-scheduled or canceled. In recent years, some games have not been made up even when matchups had a bearing on the final league standings.
