No. 2 Bears Sweep All Races at the Big Row

May 3, 2003

REDWOOD SHORES - California stormed out of the blocks Saturday morning to claim the Big Row winning all six races against the Cardinal. The varsity eight was up as far as 6 seats at the 1000 meter mark and looking strong. Stanford surged with 500 meters to go and the Bears responded by gaining two seats. They crossed the line ahead by eight seats and a 2.5 second victory.

'I am really impressed how this team raced today.' Said Cal coach Dave O'Neill. 'They put forth a total team effort and I am happy with how they raced after I made some changes. This victory over a tough Stanford team will really help us pick up speed for the Pac-10's.
