Two Bruins Named to All-Pac-10 Teams

Los Angeles - UCLA senior Sara Walker and freshman Jackie Carleton were named to the Pac-10's second team today. Walker has made All-Pac-10 in each of her four years, being named to the first team in her first three years.

Carleton, a true freshman from Jenkintown, PA, has played only at the first and second spots for the Bruins the entire season, going 4-3 in dual match play at the top position and 9-3 at No. 2. She is currently ranked 20th on the ITA's singles list. Carleton also has the best winning percentage of any Bruin this season in doubles, going 13-6 in dual-match play while partnering up with six different teammates throughout the year. Including tournament play, Carleton posted a 23-11 record in singles and a 16-10 mark in doubles.

Walker, from El Paso, TX, is currently No. 12 on the ITA's singles list and played all 15 of her singles matches at the No. 1 position, going 8-7. Counting her 9-4 mark in tournament play, she posted a 17-11 record in the 2002-03 season. She teamed up with freshman Laura Gordon in 16 of her 19 doubles contests during the dual-match season, posting a 10-6 record. Walker recorder her most impressive win during the dual-match year in a 6-2, 6-7(4), 10-7 triumph over No. 3 Jewel Peterson of USC.

Walker, Carleton, and the Bruins will begin NCAA Tournament play on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Los Angeles Tennis Center against IUPUI.
