2003 PACIFIC-10 CONFERENCE OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD LISTThis list contains no less than the top 20 performances in each event, while all qualifiers for the 2003 Pac-10 Championships (May 17-18, Los Angeles, Calif. -- combined events May 10-11) are above the underlined mark in each event. Marks in parentheses after each event heading are (in order) Pac-10 and NCAA regional qualifying marks. All Pac-10 champions will automatically be invited to the NCAA West Region Championships (May 30-31, Stanford, Calif.). The top five finishers from each regional event automatically advance to the NCAA Championships (June 11-14, Sacramento, Calif.). Another six to eight athletes nationally per event will be invited by the NCAA Championships selection committee based on a season performance list as long as that athlete competed in the regional. Qualifying marks must be made between March 1 and May 19.List marks in parentheses for the races of 200 meters and under are not accepted as NCAA qualifying efforts, as they were not recorded in automatic (track) or metric (field) form. For the Pac-10 Championships, hand times are allowed, but field events still must be measured in metric units.Indoor marks (from January 1) and wind-aided marks of greater than 4.0 mps will be accepted for the Pac-10 Championships, but not for the NCAA Championships. Wind-aided marks of 2.0 - 4.0 mps will be accepted for NCAA Championships.Date of performance is listed after each entry. For distances of one lap and below, hand times are converted for placing using IAAF charts (+0.24 seconds for below one lap, +0.14 seconds for one lap and up). All metric conversions in the field events are from IAAF tables, as well.Symbols: # - NCAA regional qualifier; ! - School record; i - indoor mark; (A) - altitude over 1000 meters; y - yards; *** - freshman; ** - sophomore; * - junior; no asterisk - senior.
Pac-10 Men's Track and FieldAthletes of the Week
Men's Track: Bret Holts, ORE (So., Bend, Ore.). Ran 8:48.81 in the 3000m steeplechase at the Cardinal Invitational to post the Pac-10's best time of the season in the event. Previous winners: April 14 - Ryan Wilson, USC (110MH/400MH). April 21 - Ryan Wilson, USC (110MH). April 28 - Wes Felix, USC (100M/200M).
Men's Field: Yoo Kim, UCLA (So., Rangoon, Burma). Posted the Pac-10's second best mark of the season in the pole vault with a personal best height of 18-0 1/2. It's the fourth best mark in UCLA history. Previous winners: April 14 - Adam Kriz, ORE (HT). April 21 - Allen Simms, USC (TJ). April 28 - Adam Jenkins, ORE (JT).
2003 Pac-10 Women's Track and FieldAthletes of the Week
Women's Track: Lisa Aguilera, ASU (Sr., Peoria, Ariz.). Aguilera set an ASU and Pac-10 record with a time of 9:51.65 in the steeplechase at the Arizona/Northern Arizona double dual. Her time is best among collegiate runners this year and tops the USA list by nearly three seconds.
Women's Field: Chaniqua Ross, UCLA (Sr., Elk Grove, Calif.). Tossed the discuss a distance of 182-10 to win the UCLA Invitational. She holds the Pac-10's top mark in the discuss this season with a throw of 183-7.
Women's Track: April 14 - Virginia Powell, USC (100m hurdles, 100m); April 21 - Lauren Fleshman, STANFORD (5,000m); April 28 - Sheena Johnson, UCLA (100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4x100 relay). May 3 - Lisa Aguilera, ASU (3000m steeple).
Women's Field: April 14: Julianna Tudja, USC (Hammer); April 21 - Julianna Tudja, USC (Hammer); April 28 - Erin Williams, USC (Long Jump). May 5 - Chaniqua Ross, UCLA (DT).
