Lamb Wins Long Jump at Pac-10 Multi Championships

University of California freshman Elzunia Lamb won the long jump event (19-9) and earned Cal three points at Sunday's Pac-10 Multi-Event Championships. Lamb, along with junior Jason Gatewood competed at the conference meet hosted by USC and finished in sixth and 10th place, respectively.

Lamb's long jump mark is her best of the season. Her heptathlon point total of 4688 is good for 10th place on the Golden Bears' all-time best performances list. Additionally, by virtue of Lamb's sixth-place finish, Cal's women's team will start next weekend's Pac-10 Track and Field Championships with three points on the board. Lamb has also qualified for the NCAA regional and Pac-10 Championships in the long jump.

Washington State's Ellannee Richardson captured her third Pac-10 heptathlon title with 5766 total points. Oregon's Santiago Lorenzo won his second conference decathlon title with 7564 total points.

Gatewood's highest finish in Sunday's events came in the javelin throw where he took fifth with a toss of 161-9. He finished the decathlon with 6046 total points. This season, Gatewood has also posted a Pac-10 qualifying mark in the high jump.
