Women's Soccer Announces Incoming Freshmen Class

Stanford, Calif. - Head coach Paul Ratcliffe welcomes four freshmen that will join the Stanford women's soccer team in the fall of 2003. Rachel Buehler (Del Mar, CA), Gina Farias-Eisner (Calabasas, CA), Shari Summers (Canyon Country, CA) and Rachel Zollner (Littleton, CO) round out the Cardinal's recruiting class.
Buehler, a defender/forward, is a NSCAA Youth All-American in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and was named a Parade Magazine All-American. A US National Team U-19 member from 2000-2003, Buehler plays for Torrey Pines High School and the San Diego Surf Soccer Club. In 2002 she was a member of the World Champion U-19 team, marking the first squad to ever compete in a Women's U-19 Championship.
Farias-Eisner is a member of the 2003 Regional All-Star and Region IV ODP teams. She plays for Harvard-Westlake High School and was named All-CIF, All-Mission League and the league MVP last season. Farias-Eisner was captain of the West Valley Samba club from 1999-2003. The Samba won the Regional and National Championship in 2002.
Summers, a center midfielder, is in the U-19 National pool and a member of the Region IV ODP team. A 2002 USYSA ODP Honorable Mention All-American, Summers is also a member of the West Valley Samba club team with Farias-Eisner. Summers also plays for Valencia High School in Valencia, California.
Zollner comes to Stanford as a goalkeeper for the Colorado Rush soccer club and Highlands Ranch High School in Colorado. She is a member of the Region IV ODP pool and has been part of the state team since 1998. Zollner's club team won the national championships in 2001 and she received the Golden Glove Award at the 2001 USYSA Nationals.
The four will join a Stanford squad that advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals last year, finishing with a 21-2 overall mark.
