Lovie Jung Among Top Three Finalists for USA Softball Player of the Year

The Amateur Softball Association announced Tuesday the top three finalists for the 2003 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award. Senior Lovie Jung has been named one of the finalists. Cat Osterman from Texas and Natasha Watley from UCLA are among the other finalist for the award. The award will be announced May 21 at the opening ceremony of the NCAA Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Ok.
On the season, Jung has a .442 batting average with 61 runs, 68 hits, 24 home runs and 72 RBI. Jung has led the NCAA this season with 24 home runs. Jung leads the team with six grand slams. In conference games, Jung has a .464 batting average with 24 hits, 26 runs, seven home runs and 20 RBI.
The Cats are home this weekend hosting the NCAA Regionals from May 15-18.
