The Huskies enter Saturday's final round tied for 10th place at 18-over 594 with San Diego State. Those teams trail Southern California and UC-Irvine by a single stroke. Washington All-American Brock Mackenzie, senior Conner Robbins and junior Dan Potter each shot even-par 72 while Derek Berg carded a 1-over 73. Mackenzie leads the Huskies on the leaderboard in 19th place at 2-over 146.

'We played ourselves back into a position where we can try and control our own destiny,' said Husky coach Matt Thurmond. 'You don't want to try and make up a bunch of strokes on the final day. If we play well on Saturday we can advance to the nationals and you can't ask for anything else. The guys played great today. To have a 73 as your throw-out score was outstanding.'

The Huskies finished their first round Friday morning and stood 19th at 20-over 308. Washington's second round score of 286 was the third lowest score posted during Friday's play.

The teams atop the leaderboard are scheduled to being Saturday's final round of play at 7:12 a.m. Washington will be paired with San Diego State and Denver and tee off starting at 8:15 a.m. from the first tee.
