Peterson, Brymer Advance At NCAAs

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - With a win in both singles and doubles on Tuesday, May 20, USC's Jewel Peterson and doubles partner Tiffany Brymer advanced to the next round of play at the 2003 NCAA Women's Tennis Individual Championships in Gainesville, Fla.
Peterson, defeated Marlene Mejia of North Carolina, 6-0, 7-5, in a second round singles match on Tuesday morning. The Women of Troy's eighth-seeded senior will now face 9-16 seed Daria Panova of Oregon in the Round of 16 on Wednesday at 9 a.m. EST.
Sophomore Luana Magnani, who defeated Tulsa's Aleksandra Durska in the first round, was eliminated this morning in the second round by seventh-seeded Adria Engel of Arizona State, 6-1, 6-2.
Doubles play also began today for the Trojans' Peterson and Tiffany Brymer. The pair defeated Northwestern's Jessica Rush and Cristelle Grier, 6-4, 7-6 (5), in the opener. Brymer and Peterson will now face Sarah Riske and Aleke Tsoubanos of Vanderbilt in the Round of 16 on Wednesday at noon EST.
