Wes Whisler Named to All Pac-10 First Team

Wes Whisler was named to the All Pac-10 First Team for the second straight year and four Bruins were named Honorable Mention, Pac-10 Comissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Whisler joined Stanford's Sam Fuld and Carlos Quentin, California's Conor Jackson and Arizona State's Andre Either as the only multiple first team recipients.
The Noblesville, Indiana native finished the season hitting .310 with nine homers and 39 RBI. He led the Bruins with 70 hits. On the mound, Whisler posted a 5.66 ERA in a team-high 82.2 innings of work. Whisler posted a .324 average in conference play with six home runs and 19 RBI. His 5.54 Pac-10 ERA was the lowest among Bruin starters in 50.1 innings. In the field, Whisler put together a perfect conference season, being one of three Bruin starters without an error in Pac-10 play.
McMillan hit .330 this season, which was second on the team. He hit eight home runs and knocked in 35 RBI in his freshman season. The Shingle Springs native led UCLA with 22 RBI, 33 hits and 25 runs scored in conference play while hitting .308.
Silva became only the fourth Bruin to put together an unbeaten season on the mound, going 6-0 in 18 appearances this season. He was 4-0 with two saves in conference play. The right-hander reliever posted a team-low 3.86 ERA this season, while holding opponents to a .258 batting average.
Susdorf, who was the Pac-10 Player of the Week in the opening week of the season, put together an outstanding conference season, hitting .345 with six doubles and five home runs during Pac-10 play. The Newhall native hit .310 on the year and, along with Brandon Averill, led the team with ten home runs.
A senior co-captain, Trott picked up his first Pac-10 honor in his final season as a Bruin. The Torrance native led UCLA with a .366 batting average this season. He posted a .424 batting average and a .610 slugging percentage in conference action.
