Bruins Compete at first-ever NCAA West Regionals May 30-31 at Stanford

May 28, 2003

This Weekend (Friday-Saturday/May 30-31) - Jeanette Bolden's UCLA women's track & field team, No. 3 (tied) in the U. S. (Trackwire), will compete in the first-ever NCAA West Regional T & F meet, held at Stanford (Cobb Track & Angell Field). The West Regionals will determine individual entries to the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 11-14, hosted by CS Sacramento). Qualifying standards must be met to advance to the four Regional Qualifying meets around the country (conference champions will automatically qualify). At the Regional Qualifying meets, the top five finishers in each event will advance to the 2003 NCAA Outdoor, with an additional six-to-eight at-large student-athletes to be selected in each individual event based upon a season-long performance list. There will also be team scoring at the Regional meet (each event scored eight places, 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1).
