Six Cardinal Wrestlers Named To Pac-10 All-Academic Teams

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford placed six wrestlers on the Pac-10 Conference All-Academic Teams announced earlier. Sophomore Matt Gentry (Grants Pass, OR/North Valley) and senior Harold Penson (Richmond Heights, OH/Richmond Heights) were named to the Second Team, while Garrett Johnston (McAlester, OK/McAlester), Brad Metzler (Omaha, NE/Westside), Larry Ozowara (Etiwanda, CA/Etiwanda) and Shawn Ritzenthaler (Powell, OH/Kilbourne) were selected for honorable mention recognition.

Gentry, the Cardinal's win leader for the second consecutive season, won four matches in his second trip to the NCAA Championships this season. Gentry is pursuing a Human Biology major. Penson wrapped up an impressive career with a sixth place finish at the Pac-10 Championships. He collected 57 wins in his career and will graduate with a degree in Economics.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter of significant substitute.
