Cougar Baseball Signs Spokane's Brandon Harmon

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Brandon Harmon, a right handed pitcher from Spokane's Shadle Park High who was drafted in Major League Baseball's 43rd round this week, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Washington State University, Cougar baseball coach Tim Mooney confirmed Thursday.
Harmon posted a 10-1 record as a senior and helped lead the Highlander's to a fourth place finish in the Washington 4A championships. Harmon was drafted by the Chicago Cubs Wednesday in the 43rd round, one of four Cougar recruits selected in this week's MLB draft.
He also lettered two years as a quarterback for Shadle Park High and last fall guided the team to a 5-4 record after a winless season the previous year. He threw for over 1,300 yards and had 12 touchdown passes as a senior.

High School: Attended Shadle Park, where he was coached by Ron Brooks...two varsity letters in both baseball and football (quarterback)...as a JUNIOR posted a 2-4 record with a 2.67 ERA...36 strikeouts...team was 9-9...during the fall was the Highlander's number two quarterback, throwing for 640 yards and three touchdowns...SENIOR (2002-03) year posted a 10-1 record in leading Shadle Park to a fourth place finish in the State playoffs...going into the final weekend of playoff action, had a 0.86 ERA, notched 64 strikeouts and hit .322 at the plate...in the playoffs he won two games as Shadle Park reached the State quarterfinals before losing to South Kitsap...allowed just one hit through five innings against South Kitsap, but four costly errors were more than the Highlanders could overcome in a 6-2 loss...named to the All-Greater Spokane League team and was SPHS's Spring Athlete in the GSL...in football, guided the Highlanders to a 5-4 record after team went winless the year before...threw for 1,350 yards and 12 touchdowns...received All-GSL honorable mention honors.PERSONAL: Brandon Thomas Harmon...born 05-10-85 at Spokane...parents Denise and Ed Fell...mother a nurse...his aunt, Colleen Harmon, played basketball at Walla Walla CC and Gonzaga...enjoys hunting, fishing and playing video games...a National Honor Society honoree at SPHS...prep GPA above 3.00...has not decided on an academic field of study at WSU.
