Lillibridge Named Freshman All-America

University of Washington outfielder Brent Lillibridge has been named a Freshman All-American today by Collegiate Baseball magazine.

Lillibridge, from Jackson High in Everett, Wash., was the only Husky freshman to seesignificant action during the 2003 season. He finished the year as the UW's leading hitter,batting .388, and set a school freshman record with 13 home runs. He also shared the teamlead for both doubles (16) and hits (71) and was second with 49 runs scored and ninestolen bases.

A first-team All-Pac-10 selection, Lillibridge will attend the USA Baseball national teamtrials later this month in Tucson.

Originally recruited to play shortstop, Lillibridge broke into the lineup as a center fielderdue to the return of senior Tila Reynolds, a four-year starter at short who turned down apro contract offer following his junior season. Lillibridge, however, is expected to playshortstop next season for the Huskies.

Lillibridge is the seventh Washington player named a first-team Freshman All-American inthe last eight seasons. Last year, catcher Aaron Hathaway and first baseman Kyle Larsenearned the same honor.
