Vidlund Most Outstanding Player; Harris Top Pitcher At Softball Banquet

EUGENE - Oregon senior Andrea Vidlund (Citrus Heights, Calif.) was named Most Outstanding Player and freshman Amy Harris earned top pitcher honors at the Ducks' annual softball banquet last Saturday evening.

Other players recognized were Amber Hutchison (top offensive player) freshman Breanne Sabol (top defensive player) and junior Julie Jaime (most inspirational).

Vidlund set a single season record for home runs with 16 and now holds the all-time home run record with 37. Vidlund finished ranked eighth in the nation in home runs per game and defensively, her 11 saves leads the nation.

Harris now holds the Oregon freshman record for strikeouts in a single season (180) and Hutchison had 19 stolen bases this season - the most by an Oregon player since 1999. Hutchison and Vidlund were unanimous selections to the all-region team at Fullerton, Calif.
