OSU Announces 2003 Schedule

The Oregon State men's soccer team is slated to play 19 matches in 2003, including seven home contests at Lorenz Field at Valley Stadium.
In all, the Beavers play nine games against 2002 NCAA Tournament competitors. In addition to games at home and away against Pacific-10 Conference foes UCLA, Stanford and California, OSU takes on San Diego and Holy Cross, and has a NCAA Tournament rematch with Portland on Sept. 7 at Merlo Field.
OSU opens the season with four road games, beginning Aug. 29 at San Diego State. The Beavers also square off against San Diego and Sacramento State before facing Portland.
Pac-10 play begins Oct. 3, as the Beavers host defending national champion UCLA, followed by Fresno State on Oct. 5.
OSU will play 10 conference games, with matches at home and away against UCLA, national runner-up Stanford, NCAA Tournament competitor California, Washington and Fresno State.
The Beavers host the fifth-annual OSU/Diadora Classic Sept. 12-14, which also serves as OSU's home-opener. OSU plays Gonzaga and St. Mary's, and Illinois-Chicago will round out the field.
For the second year in a row, the Beavers travel to the East Coast, where they will play in Rhode Island's Soccer Classic Sept. 19-21. OSU faces Boston University and URI in the tournament, and squares off with Holy Cross on Sept. 24 before returning home to open Pac-10 play.
Last year, OSU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, recording a school-record 13 wins along the way.
