Women's Volleyball Completes Spring Practice at USAV Open Nationals

The UCLA women's volleyball team wrapped up its spring practice over Memorial Day Weekend as the team competed at the 2003 USA Adult Indoor volleyball Championships in the Women's Open Division, Gold Bracket.

The Bruins, competing under the name of 'Westwood Volleyball Club,' finished fourth in their group, which was filled with teams that included many AVCA All-Americans who have completed their eilgibility, plus a USA Volleyball Training Team.

'The team competed well in Minneapolis,' said head coach Andy Banachowski. 'They played well against some high-level competition. Everyone is on the same page going into fall practice, and we are looking forward to the upcoming intercollegiate season.'

Assistant coach Kim Jagd participated on an over-30 team that placed second in its division. Jagd was named an All-American

UCLA is scheduled to begin training for the 2003 season in early August. The Bruins open their 2003 season on Aug. 29 when UCLA faces Louisville at the Hawaiian Airlines Classic in Honolulu, HI.
