Five Men's Rowers Earn Academic All-Pac-10 Recognition

Oregon State men's rowers Ryan Dillon, Erik Dresser, Andrew Wheeler, Jay Schamber and Norman Wentworth earned academic All-Pacific-10 Conference recognition, the conference announced Monday.

Dillon, Dresser and Wheeler were first-team selections, while Schamber and Wentworth received honorable mention.

Dillon, a senior from Tidewater, Ore. (Waldport HS), was named to the All-Pac-10 team earlier in June.

Dillon carries a 3.07 grade-point average in Mechanical Engineering, and earned three letters over his career. Among his highlights were helping the varsity eight to a school-best fourth-place finish at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships as a junior, and ninth place this year. Dillon earned honorable mention academic all-conference as a junior.

A senior, Dresser owns a 3.13 GPA in Business Administration, and earned two letters in the varsity eight as a junior and senior. He hails from Portland, Ore. (Sunset HS). This is his second selection to the first-team, having been picked for the team following his junior year in 2001. Dresser redshirted in 2002.

The team captain, senior Andrew Wheeler rowed in the junior varsity eight in 2002. Wheeler, a native of Oregon City, Ore. (Oregon City HS), compiled a 3.55 GPA as a Business Administration major.

Wentworth is a sophomore from Astoria, Ore. (Astoria HS), and Schamber, a junior, is a native of Alsea, Ore (Alsea HS). Wentworth rowed in the varsity eight, while Schamber was a member of the junior varsity boat.
