Bruins to Compete at USA Junior and Senior Nationals

Thursday through Sunday, June 19-22, a handful of Bruins will compete at the USA Junior and Senior National Championships, held at Stanford's Cobb Track and Angell Field.
Two Bruin men will compete at Junior Nationals, Matt Willis and Brian Ruziecki. Willis, who ran a personal best 52.57 in the 400m hurdles as a freshman last season, will compete in the 400m hurdles. Ruziecki, a 2003 redshirt, will compete as an unattached athlete.
Three Bruins will compete at the Senior Nationals, Juaune Armon, John Barbieri and Kyle Erickson. Armon, the Pac-10 and NCAA West Region long jump champion, had a season best jump of 26-2.75 (7.99m, 0.0) and placed fifth at the NCAA Championships. Barbieri, who just completed his Bruin career, ran a season best 50.66 in the 400m hurdles, was third at the NCAA West Regional and advanced to the semifinals at the NCAA Championships. Erickson, the No. 4 400m hurdler in school history (49.62), just completed his Bruin career. He ran a season best of 49.78, was the NCAA West Region champion and advanced to the semifinals at the NCAA Championships.
