Stanford Golfer Blake Mastalir Named First Team Pac-10 All Academic

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Stanford's Blake Mastalir (Englewood, CO) was named First Team Pac-10 All Academic. Mastalir's selection was based upon a synthesis of his play and his 3.49 cumulative grade-point average. In addition to Mastalir, senior George Downing (Santa Barbra, CA), an American Studies major, and Ron Won (Irvine, CA), a Science, Technology, and Society major, were named to the second team.

Two Stanford golfers were also named Honorable mention in the form of sophomores Pat Phillips (Athens, GA) and Kevin Blue (Don Mills, Ont., Canada), recipient of The Stanford Tradition Award.

In order to be considered for selection to the Pac-10 All Academic Team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and either be a starter or significant contributor.
