June 19, 2003

STANFORD, Calif. - University of California track and field athlete Chloe Jarvis finished fourth in her heat of the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:05.12 to qualify for today's semifinals at the USA Track and Field Championships. Stanford hosts the championships at Cobb Track and Angell Field through Sunday.

Jarvis, who led the Golden Bears in the 800m this season, has continually improved throughout the season. A 2003 NCAA qualifier, Jarvis' best time from a year ago was 2:18.87. Her new PR of 2:05.12 is the third-fastest in Cal's history.

The USATF Championships are held to determine who will compete for the U.S. at the 2003 World Championships, Pan American Games and World University Games.

Friday's competition also features the Bears' top hurdlers Ahmad Wright and Tim Bogdanof, and high jumper Teak Wilburn. Visit http://www.flashresults.com/2003_Meets/outdoor/usaoutdoor/ for live stats and check www.calbears.com for a complete recap.
