Lorena Arias Selected for World University Games

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State tennis player Lorena Arias has been selected to represent her native country, Mexico, at the 2003 Summer World University Games. The event will be held in Daegu, Korea, August 21-31.

Arias, who will be a senior at WSU in the fall, is one of 92 women from 45 countries in the tennis competition. Hailing from Mexico City, Arias has 50 singles victories in her Cougar career, including 16 during the 2002-03 season. She is seven wins shy of the WSU career top 10 and needs 14 to reach the Cougar top five list.

She also boasts a 3.56 grade point average in communications and earned Pacific-10 All-Academic First Team accolades in 2002-03.
