Nicole Younts Named Assistant Rowing Coach

BERKELEY - Nicole Younts, a 1999 graduate of the University of Virginia, has accepted an assistant coaching position for the upcoming year, head women's coach Dave O'Neill announced Tuesday.

Younts rowed on the highly successful lightweight team at Virginia for four years, earned four letters and was captain her senior season.

Younts began rowing at West Springfield High School in Springfield, Va. Following graduating from UVA, she returned to West Springfield to coach the novice women from 1999-2000. After being away from the sport for a few years, she looks forward to the year ahead and contributing to the success of the Golden Bears.

Although Younts will work primarily with the varsity squad, O'Neill expects the entire team to benefit.

'Nicole is a terrific person and has a lot to offer everyone in our program.' O'Neill said. 'I'm thrilled she is joining our staff, and we'e lucky to have her.'
