Cal Swimmers Ready For World Championships

University of California women's swimming star Natalie Coughlin, along with several other Golden Bear swimmers, will compete at the 2003 X FINA World Swimming Championships July 20-27 in Barcelona, Spain.

Coughlin is joined by former Cal standouts Anthony Ervin and Haley Cope on USA's team. Current Bears that are competing for other countries include Duje Draganja (Croatia), Alex Lim (Malaysia), Miguel Molina (Philippines) and Henrique Barbosa (Brazil). Former Golden Bears, Ericka Lorenz (H20 Team USA), Heather Petri (H20 Team USA), Gordan Kozulj (Croatia), Bart Kizierowski (Poland) and Mattias Ohlin (Sweden) will compete for their native countries, as well.

Cal women's head coach Teri McKeever serves as an assistant women's coach for the U.S. team.

ESPN will televise the championships with daily coverage shown on both ESPN or ESPN2. A schedule of events and TV times can be found at www.usa-swimming.com, while complete results will be posted at www.bcn03.org. Recaps will also be posted at www.calbears.com.
