STRONGSVILLE, OHIO -- Arizona State junior-to-be Jeff Larish went 3-for-4 with three RBI and tied a Team USA record with two home runs to help lead the USA Baseball National Team to its 20th straight victory with a 15-7 win over Northern Ohio Saturday night at Mills Field. Larish now has a team-leading six home runs for the summer and four in the last three games. ASU teammate and Team USA starting shortstop Dustin Pedroia went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Behind an 11-run first inning, the USA Baseball National Team defeated Northern Ohio 15-7 to remain undefeated on the summer with a 20-0 record. In addition to the three hits from the Sun Devil duo, Seth Smith (OF, So., Mississippi) also added three hits as Team USA set season-high totals for runs and hits (17). Each starter for the Red, White & Blue had at least one hit on the night.

Mark Romanczuk (LHP, Fr., Stanford) worked six innings allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out six batters to improve to 4-0 on the summer. Matt Campbell (LHP, So., South Carolina) hurled two innings for Team USA and struck out five batters. Campbell has struck out 26 batters on the summer in 15 1/3 innings pitched. Micah Owings (RHP, Fr., Georgia Tech) closed out the game for Team USA pitching the final frame.

The Red, White & Blue sent 15 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning and collected 10 hits to build an 11-0 lead. One-out singles by Pedroia, Danny Putnam (OF, So., Stanford) and Larish loaded the bases for Tyler Greene (IF, Fr., Georgia Tech), who reached base on a fielder's choice to score Pedroia. As Greene made it to first base, Northern Ohio shortstop Robbie Fitzgerald threw low allowing Greene to advance to second and Putnam to score. With a two-run lead, Seth Smith (OF, So., Mississippi) singled and Jeff Clement (C, Fr., USC) reached on an error by second baseman David Johnson, which scored Greene and put Team USA up by three runs. After Mike Nickeas (C, So., Georgia Tech) was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Brent Lillibridge (OF, Fr., Washington) knocked a RBI base hit up the middle to score Smith and Clement.

With the top of the batting order back up, Team USA pieced together four consecutive hits including a RBI single by Eric Patterson (IF, So., Georgia Tech), RBI doubles from Pedroia and Putnam and a two-run homer from Larish, increasing the USA lead to 11 runs. Larish's homer to center field marked his third consecutive game with a home run.

Northern Ohio scored twice in the second inning to break Romanczuk's scoreless streak at 23 innings. Andrew Butera had a RBI single and David Johnson scored on a wild pitch as Northern Ohio crept to within nine runs. The USA would increase the lead back to 10 runs as Larish launched his second homer of the game over the wall in right center, tying a Team USA individual record for home runs in a game. Larish leads Team USA in homers this summer with six. His second homer of the game came off ASU teammate Matt Leaf.

Both teams traded runs in the fifth inning as the USA lead remained at 10 runs. A two-out RBI double from P.J. Pilittere scored Mike Sansoe for Northern Ohio and Jeff Clement laced a two-out RBI single to score Smith for Team USA.

Northern Ohio scored once in the seventh inning before the USA scored twice in the eighth inning. After a leadoff single by Smith, pinch hitter Stephen Head (IF, Fr., Mississippi) hit his first home run of the summer to put the USA on top by 11 runs. Smith scored three runs on the night for the Red, White & Blue. Northern Ohio would score three runs in the top of the ninth inning on a home run by Bryan Byrne.

Team USA and Northern Ohio conclude the series on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. with Team USA's starter to be announced. Each game of the four-game set with Northern Ohio is played at Mills Field. The Northern Ohio Baseball Club is a member of the Great Lakes Collegiate Baseball League. After the four-game series ends, Team USA will face the Great Lakes All-Stars on Monday evening at Mills Field.

After going 3-for-4 Saturday, Larish is now hitting .297 (22-for-74) with three doubles, six home runs and a team-leading 18 RBI. Pedroia has started all 20 games with flawless defense at shortstop and is fourth on the team hitting .316 (24-for-76) with five doubles, one home run and eight RBI.
