Thompson And Kirk Conclude World Championships

Barcelona, Spain - Former Stanford swimmer Jenny Thompson (1991-95) and current Stanford swimmer Tara Kirk (senior in 2003-04) concluded the 10th FINA World Championships on Sunday at the Palau Saint Jordi with a fourth-place finish in the 50 meter free and a fifth-place showing in the 50 meter breast, respectively. Thompson recorded a time of 31.87, while Kirk clocked in at 25.10.

Thompson, the most decorated American in World Championships history, won four medals earlier in the eight-day competition to bring her career count in the event to 13. She won golds in the 100 meter fly and as a member of the USA's winning 4x100 meter free relay team.
