A Statement from Arizona Head Basketball Coach Lute Olson

Aug. 7, 2003

'He's had an unbelievable career. I don't think there were a whole lot of people who thought Steve Kerr would ever play in the NBA and for him to retire with five rings and a 15-year career is just unbelievable.'

'He could obviously shoot the lights out, but more importantly, he didn't make mistakes. Steve was an outstanding team player who never stopped working hard. He was just happy for the opportunity to play and never took anything for granted. That's what made him such a wonderful teammate.'

University of Arizona head coach Lute Olson regarding the retirement of Steve Kerr following a 15-year professional career. Kerr was a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats from 1983-88 who earned All-America accolades as a senior.
