Trojan Swim Club Wins U.S. National Relay Title

Jana Krohn and Kaitlin Sandeno bolstered already strong weeks at the 2003 U.S. Summer Nationals with a pair of third-place finishes and then led a Trojan Swim Club relay to a national title on Friday (Aug. 8) in College Park, Md.

Meanwhile, J.D. Abercrombie took fourth in the 100m fly to highlight the men's team's efforts.

Led by Sandeno, Krohn and Margie Pedder, the Trojan Swim Club won the national title in the 800m free with an 8:10.79, more than seven seconds ahead of second-place Texas Aquatics. Krohn was also part of a Trojan Swim Club win in the 800m free relay in 2001.

For Sandeno, the relay win gave her her third title of the meet to go with one second-place finish and a third in the 400m free (4:11.08) on Friday.

Krohn, second in the 200m fly, was third in the 100m fly in 59.99, less than two tenths of a second behind winner Emily Goetsch (59.87). Misty Hyman was second in 59.94. Recently graduated senior Michala Kwasny took seventh in1:00.68.

Abercrombie, sixth in the 100m fly last year, took fourth in 53.85 this year, a personal best.
