Amber Liu Named 2003 ITA National Player Of The Year

SKILLMAN,N.J. - Cardinal Tennis standout Amber Liu (La Mesa, CA) was named 2003 ITA National Player of the Year. The selection comes on the heels of Liu being named 2003 ITA National Rookie of the Year, advancing to the second round of the Bank Of The West Classic, and capturing the NCAA singles title in first season on the farm. Liu was also able to lead the Cardinal to the NCAA team final. The award comes as a coronation of sorts for the phenomenal Liu.
Representing Stanford's Men's squad are All-Star selections Scott Lipsky (Merrik, NY) and David Martin (Tulsa, OK). Martin, a two-time All-American, is the only player in Division I men's tennis to be ranked in the top ten in both singles (eighth) and doubles (fourth with Lipsky) play. Lipsky, also a two-time All-American, coupled with Martin to be a #4 national doubles ranking. Lipsky also compiled 22-9 singles record.
The 2003 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Star Team includes the nations top ranked men's and women's tennis players at the NCAA I, II, and III, NAIA, and NJCAA levels. The All-Stars will be honored on August 22 at the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, New York.
