Stanford Ranks in Top-Five in Preseason Polls

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's soccer team opens the 2003 season ranked No. 2 by Soccer America, No. 3 by Soccer Buzz and No. 4 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in the preseason polls. The Cardinal return seven starters from a 2002 squad that boasted a Pacific-10 Conference title with an unblemished 9-0 league record and a 21-2 overall record. The 2003 squad has been chosen by the league's coaches to repeat as Pac-10 champions this year.

The Cardinal play host to Long Beach State on Aug. 31, at 1 p.m. at Maloney Field.
