Dan Westcott Wins Third World University Games Medal

Daegu, South Korea - Stanford men's swimmer Dan Westcott (The Woodlands, TX) picked up his third medal on the final day of swimming competition at the 2003 World University Games on Saturday. Westcott, who did not swim in the morning prelims, swam the leadoff leg of the United States' bronze medal third-place team in the 400 meter medley relay finals. He covered his 100 meters of backstroke in 55.50 as the Americans finished in a time of 3:40.18. Ukraine set a new World Universaide record to win the event in a time of 3:37.46.
Westcott had earned gold (50 meter back) and silver (100 meter back) medals earlier in the competition, while finishing 11th overall in the 50 meter fly
The U.S. Men's and Women's Teams won the overall medal count with 21, winning three more on Saturday.
