Volleyball defeats New Hampshire in Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis.- The Washington volleyball team (2-0) defeated New Hampshire (0-2) Saturday in three straight games. The Huskies' 30-14, 30-15, 30-17 victory was the third match of the Badger Invitational at the UW Field House.
Washington doubled up on New Hampshire in almost all categories, racking up 56 kills and recording a team hitting percentage of .525, compared to the Wildcats' 26 kills and .105 team hitting percentage. The Huskies also had eight service aces, while the Wildcats were held to one.
Leading the Washington offense, outside hitter Sanja Tomasevic (Uzice, Yugoslavia) put down 18 kills, logging an impressive .720 hitting percentage. Also contributing to the Husky strike, Kaitlin Leck (Carson City, Nev.) and Brie Hagerty (Defiance, Ohio) added 14 and 12 kills, respectively.
Husky setter Courtney Thompson (Kent, Wash.) set up 49 assists in the match, more than doubling New Hampshire's Ann Davis, who recorded 16 for the Wildcats.
New Hampshire's Alyson Coler led the Wildcats offensively with 10 kills.
Defensively, Washington libero Candace Lee (Eugene, Ore.) popped up a match-high, 13 digs, with Tomasevic and Thompson each adding 10.
Play continues at the Badger Invitational today as New Hampshire faces UMKC at 5 p.m. and Washington takes on Wisconsin at 7 p.m. (CT) at the UW Field House.
