WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Tailback Adimchinobe Echemandu of California, tackle Mike Patterson of USC and kicker Drew Dunning of Washington State have been named Pac-10 Players of the Week in football.
Echemandu, a senior from Hawthorne, Calif., spearheaded California's running game in the Golden Bears' 34-2 win against Southern Mississippi. He rushed 17 times for a career-high 127 yards (7.5), including a 60-yard touchdown run. The Cal offense rushed for a total of 260 yards.
Patterson, a junior from Los Alamitos, Calif., led the defensive line's dominating performance in USC's 23-0 shutout win at No. 6-ranked Auburn. Patterson was credited with seven tackles, including one tackle for loss. The Trojans' defense limited Auburn to 11 first downs, 43 yards rushing and 164 yards total offense. In addition, the defense forced three turnovers that led to 17 points and Auburn's deepest penetration of the game with the USC 33-yard line.
Said Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville of the USC defensive line: '(Our quarterback) didn't have a chance. He was running around for his life. You could just feel our offensive line didn't feel good about being able to block those guys.'
Dunning, a senior from Issaquah, Wash., was perfect on four field goal attempts in Washington State's 25-0 win against Idaho. Dunning connected from 46, 42, 29 and 35 yards, plus had a PAT for 13 total points scored. He moved into second place on Washington State's kick scoring list with 223 points.

Also nominated on defense were safties Donnie McCleskey of California and Virgil Williams of Washington State, linebackers John McKinney of Arizona and Richard Seigler of Oregon State and end Devan Long of Oregon.
