Matt Taylor Selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week

UCLA senior forward Matt Taylor (Irvine, CA/Irvine HS) was selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week for games played Aug. 29-31. Taylor had a hat trick in UCLA's 5-2 victory over 16th-ranked Penn State, scoring the tying, go-ahead and game-winning goals. Taylor was selected the Cal State Fullerton Soccer Town Classic Offensive MVP and was also named the season's first Pac-10 Player of the Week

This is Taylor's first honor by Soccer America this season and the second of his career.

Key to Terps' defense in back-to-back shutout wins (1-0 over Furman and 4-0 over Butler) to take Creighton Diadora Challenge.

Liberian is Nike/ALLNET MVP, leading Rams past West Virginia with game's only game.

Ignacio Cid (Cal State Fullerton), Soph. (1)
Scores only goal in 1-0 win over Ohio State and a pair of unassisted second-half goals in 2-0 victory over then-No. 7 Penn State.

David Peplinski (Saint Louis), Fr. (1)
Scores the winning goal in overtime to lead Billikens past Virginia, 3-2, in victory that clinches the Virginia Adidas Classic title.

FORWARDS
Joe Ducci (Bradley), Soph. (1)
MVP of the Holiday Inn City Centre Classic with goal and assist against Oral Roberts (2-1) and two goals against Rhode Island (4-2).

Marcus Storey (North Carolina), Jr. (1)
Scores twice in 3-0 win over then-No. 8 UConn and scores and sets up Jamie Watson for overtime winner in 2-1 win over then-No. 5 St. John's.

Hits hat trick in 5-2 win over Penn State to duplicate feat against Lions in last year's NCAA Tournament.
