Sept. 6, 2003

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Amanda Eggert hit .520 with 15 kills and a career-high nine blocks, but Oregon State's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 contest to Sacramento State in the final match of the Sacramento State Invitational on Saturday. Game scores were 30-25, 30-22, 21-30 and 30-20.

The Beavers (6-2) finished the tournament with a 2-2 record, winning twice on Friday before losing two matches on Saturday. Sacramento State (3-4) also went 2-2 in the tournament. Fresno State won all four of its matches to win the tournament.

'We have the makings of being a good team, but we need to work on our consistency,' coach Nancy Somera said. 'We came out on fire in game one, but we let them back in it and then things kind of fell apart. After the break, we put the starters back in and they hit .432 in game three, but we couldn't sustain it in game four.'

OSU's Laura Collins, who earned All-Tournament Team honors for the second week in a row, dished out 49 assists against the Hornets to move into third place on OSU's career assists list. She has 302 this season, giving her 2,904 career assists to overtake Christine Camp's 2,860 (1989-91). Collins also added 10 digs, three kills, and four blocks against Sacramento State.

In addition to Eggert, three other Beavers finished with double-figure kills. Allison Lawrence had 14, and Anne Watts-Roberts and Karah Rhoades added 10 apiece.

Lawrence (14) and K.C. Frederic (11) joined Collins with double-figures in the digs column.

Sacramento State's Sandra Bandimere had a match-high 16 kills, and Kristin Lutes led the Hornets with 14 digs.
