Mia Jerkov Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- CALIFORNIA outside hitter Mia Jerkov has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 2-Sept. 8, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Jerkov, a junior from Split, Croatia, earned MVP honors at the Colorado State Coors Classic as she led the Golden Bears to the tournament title with 68 kills and 30 digs. The All-American paced Cal with 20 kills and a .327 hitting percentage against host Colorado State in the championship match. In Cal's second match of the tournament against Cal-State Northridge, she recorded a team-high 30 kills and 18 digs, the seventh time in her career she has had 30 or more kills in a match.

The Golden Bears continued their hot start by improving their record to 5-0, while winning their second straight tournament.

This is the third weekly honor for Jerkov, California's 16th Player of the Week honor all-time.
