TOURNAMENT PLAY CONTINUES
Fresno State, California Take On Top-25 Teams

The FRESNO STATE Bulldogs travel to Notre Dame's Berticelli Memorial Tournament this weekend, where they met up with the No. 16/No. 18 Fighting Irish and No. 14/No. 11 Indiana... CALIFORNIA, ranked 21st in the NSCAA/Adidas poll, hosts No. 7/No. 6 Santa Clara... The No. 10/No. 19 STANFORD Cardinal travel to the Brown Tournament, while No. 2/No. 3 UCLA plays Cal State Fullerton at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The unbeaten WASHINGTON Huskies are idle this week. OREGON STATE opens its home schedule by hosting the Diadora Classic this weekend, with Gonzaga and Saint Mary's visiting Corvallis.

PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
WASHINGTON forward Casey Armstrong has been named Pac-10 Men's soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 2-8.

Armstrong, a junior from Kent, Wash., scored to lift Washington over Northwest rival Portland, 1-0, in the Huskies' home opener Sept. 5. His header off a right-side cross from Leo Totev in the 56th minute proved to be the game-winner. Armstrong, who scored the first game-winning goal of his career, was a late first-half substitution.

The victory improved Washington's record to 2-0-1 this season. The Huskies, whose lone tie is to No. 20 Oakland University (NSCAA/Adidas), have a week off and return to action on Sept. 19 against Michigan.

This is Armstrong's first weekly honor and Washington's sixth all-time Player of the Week in men's soccer.

PAC-10 MEN'S SOCCER NOTES

CALIFORNIA: JR F Carl Acosta netted two goals, while JR MF Mike Munoz added a goal and an assist in the Bears' 3-1 win over Cal State Fullerton Sept. 7... Acosta, Munoz and JR D Noah Merl wee named to the Cal Legacy Classic all-tournament team, as the Bears went 1-1, defeating the Titans and falling 1-0 to tournament champion Old Dominion.

FRESNO STATE: SR F Jeremiah LeRoy paced the Bulldogs with four shots, including one on goal, in Fresno State's annual alumni match... The alumni outlasted the 2003 Bulldogs 1-0... A goal by Dana McGregor in the 73rd minute proved to be the difference... Fresno State heads back on the road this week when it competes in Notre Dame's Berticelli Memorial Tournament, facing the Fighting Irish and Indiana.

OREGON STATE: The Beavers were held to one shot on goal in a 2-0 loss to Portland Sept. 7... After opening the season with four straight road contests, Oregon State hosts the Diadora Classic Sept. 12 and 14 at Lorenz Field... FR F Robbie Findley paces the squad in points (5) and goals (2).

STANFORD: JR GK Robby Fulton recorded a career-high 13 saves and a shutout in helping Stanford to a 1-0 win over No. 18 Cal State Fullerton Sept. 5... Fulton picked up three more saves in Stanford's 1-0 loss to Old Dominion Sept. 7... On the week, Fulton finished with an 0.45 goals against average and 16 saves... The Cardinal is back in action at the Brown Tournament, Sept. 12 and 14.

UCLA: The top-ranked Bruins rebounded from a 1-0 loss at No. 2 Maryland to defeat Virginia, 4-0... JR MF Mike Enfield added a goal and two assists against the Terrapins... Enfield scored his first collegiate goal in the 86th minute and added his second assist of the game just 44 seconds later... UCLA returns home to Southern California this week with a Sept. 14 game against Cal State Fullerton at the Home Depot Center in Carson.

WASHINGTON: JR F Casey Armstrong's header in the 56th minute lifted Washington to a 1-0 win over Portland in the Huskies' home opener Sept. 5... It was the first game-winner of Armstrong's career... The victory marked head coach Dean Wurzberger's 150th career win, improving his overall collegiate coaching record to 150-65-27 (.676)... UW is idle this week and returns to action at the Marquette Invitational in Milwaukee, Wis., Sept. 19 and 21.
