No. 18 Volleyball Pushes Win Streak To Eight Matches With Sweep Over Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho- The No. 18-ranked Washington volleyball team (8-0) pushed its win streak to eight matches with a 3-0 victory over Idaho this evening at the Idaho Tournament. With the 30-26, 30-24, 30-26 win, UW is off to its best start since the 1987 season when the Huskies opened the year with a 9-0 record.
Sanja Tomasevic (Uzice, Yugoslavia) and Brie Hagerty (Defiance, Ohio) sparked the Washington attack as Tomasevic tallied 20 kills and Hagerty collected a career-best 19 kills. Kara Bjorklund (Olympia, Wash.) and Darla Myhre (Victoria, B.C.) also contributed to the Husky offense, adding nine and six kills, respectively.
Courtney Thompson (Kent, Wash.) ran Washington's offense, collecting 50 assists on the night, while also picking up a pair of service aces.
Candace Lee (Eugene, Ore.) was solid on defense, logging a season-best 21 digs. Tomasevic also picked up 12 digs in the winning effort.
Washington continues tournament action tomorrow night with a 5 p.m. match versus Northern Arizona.
