KINGSTON, R.I. - -
The Oregon State men's soccer team (4-3-0) dropped a 2-1 decision to Boston University despite outshooting the Terriers 18-4 and controlling play for much of the game Saturday at the University of Rhode Island Soccer Classic.
Robbie Findley converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to bring OSU within 2-1, but OSU was unable to score again.
Mark Richardson gave BU a 1-0 lead at the 25:15 mark off a rebounded shot by Andrew Dorman.
The Terriers (3-4-0) took a 2-0 advantage in the 33rd minute on a score by Sedrick Chin when he capitalized on a cross from Dorman.
Other than the two BU scores, OSU keeper Peter Billmeyer was not forced to make a save, while Boston keeper Chad Comroe stopped six Beaver shots. OSU also owned a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.
'We had several opportunities to finish today, and we just weren't sharp,' OSU coach Dana Taylor said. 'We made two key mistakes that cost us goals. We'll have a test of character in our match tomorrow.'
